The EcoPark System’s 5 June Open House Post Event Summary

The Cootes to Escarpment EcoPark System Secretariat
31 July, 2023

The Cootes to Escarpment EcoPark System’s 5 June Open House was a great success!

An estimated 50 to 60 guests came out to Royal Botanical Gardens Rock Garden to learn more about the EcoPark Systems’ progress to date, strategic plan, and the Ecological Corridors Pilot Program.

Guests learned about  the EcoPark System’s history and strategic priorities from RBG’s Head of Science, Dr. David Galbraith. Conservation Halton’s Restoration Monitoring and Reporting Technician,  Ms. Carolyn Zanchetta, highlighted landowner stewardship opportunities and  Ms. Sheelah Dunn Dooley discussed  her experiences with land donation and habitat restoration. Mr. Tomasz Wiercioch, the Program Manager of the EcoPark System introduced the Cootes to Escarpment EcoPark System Ecological Corridors Pilot Program.

Presentations were followed by an enthusiastic Q and A session, and an opportunity for the guests to talk one on one with partner agency representatives from Conservation Halton, Hamilton Conservation Authority, the Bruce Trail Conservancy, and McMaster University at their organizational booths.

A big thanks to all our speakers, partner agencies, and our guests for helping to make this such a wonderful event!
