Project Types

Cootes to Escarpment EcoPark System is able to provide guidance and financial support to assist private landowners with planning and implementing habitat restoration projects on their property. Types of projects that we can provide assistance for include:

  • Pollinator gardens
  • Rainwater management
  • Tree planting
  • riparian habitat enhancements
  • Creek habitat enhancements
  • Invasive plant species management
  • Livestock access restriction
  • Manure management
  • Online pond mitigation
  • Well decommissioning

 Eligibility Requirements:

  • Property must be located within or immediately adjacent to the Cootes to Escarpment EcoPark System study area (download Cootes to Escarpment Vision Map)
  • Willingness to sign a stewardship agreement to care for the project and granting Cootes to Escarpment EcoPark staff access to the project for monitoring purposes (10 years)
  • Must be the owner of the property or have the owner sign off on the agreement

Financial support for private landowners will be subject to a review of the project by the Hamilton-Halton Watershed Stewardship Programs Project Technical Advisory Committee.

Additionally, financial support for private landowners is subject to funding availability.
